about me

I'm a recent grad of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, majoring in architecture. I grew up in Los Angeles, embracing its culture and diversity. As a biracial person, I advocate the importance of different cultures and ideas. Interacting with so many different people has made me into who I am today. I am passionate about creating, and spent my early years learning the foundational skills of traditional media. I was also eager to learn any other skills that interested me, and gave me new ways to express myself: sewing, knitting, baking, sculpting, photography, dressmaking, filmmaking, hair and makeup, and fashion.

I have always been interested in ideas of identity, beauty, and perception. That is why I gravitated towards fashion, particularly alternative fashion. I was fascinated about subcultures and how they were defined by mainstream culture. I sought to question normality and rebelled convention with my appearance. This fascination with identity, beauty, and perception has transferred to my art and modeling. I love to draw people, to see how my hands can recreate a different version of the same person. In the same way, modeling puts me in the position of being molded into different forms. The final product is the end result of many different perspectives working to create something. 

I am a maker, a creator. Learning and creating gives me the ultimate feeling of satisfaction. This is a part of me that will always be there, even as I continue to grow.

Social media has become an important tool to connect with the community and other creators. I use Instagram as my main form of interaction with the creative communities. You can find me under the handle @simonetmiller

My goal is to connect and inspire others. There is so much fulfillment gained from contributing to communities, and helping others grow. I thrive on the positivity and support artists give each other, and I will do everything to keep that cycle going. A sense of solidarity is needed if we are to improve things in this chaotic world.
